When and how did you get into derby?

In January of 2014 my friend made a Facebook post on how she had joined MGDD. I commented that it sounded like tons of fun and she encouraged me to give it a try, so I did. It came at a time that I really needed a family and a support system of my own and since then I have never regretted being part of an amazing sport with an amazing group of people.

What kind of athletic experience did you have before getting involved with roller derby?

I was always active growing up but not what I would consider athletic, so none.

What's the most meaningful lesson you've learned from roller derby?

That every individual has a special strength that is important to the team dynamic.

What advice would you give to a new skater?

Don't be disappointed if you don't play like others, what you offer is just as important. and don't quit, it took me almost 2 years to roster.

Why is being a Middle Georgia Derby Demon important to you?

It is important to me because it is a part of my family. And because of the personal impacts it has had on my life.

What's one thing you wish everyone understood about this sport?

It is a sport of strategy, skill, and endurance, not a violent sport-just full contact. It is being a part of something that empowers individuals and uplifts each other and gives back to our community.

What's on your bout day/practice playlist?

No play list, just a list of things that I need to do before I step onto the track.

Who's your derby idol and why?

There are so many talented upper level players that it would be hard to pick one, but on the other hand I tend to idolize the ones I play with more because I get to play with them and really learn their strengths.
