When and how did you get into derby?
Sept 2011 in Oklahoma City. I saw the team at Octoberfest and decided it was time to stop being scared and just do it.
How much of your time would you say you dedicate to roller derby (or roller derby related activities) in an average week?
All of it, even when I sleep I'm thinking about derby
What kind of athletic experience did you have before getting involved with roller derby?
Not much, I'm pretty klutzy. Does falling and not horribly hurting yourself count as stuntman training?
What's the most meaningful lesson you've learned from roller derby?
You are your own worst critic.
What advice would you give to a new skater?
Keep at it, you will get it!
Why is being a Middle Georgia Derby Demon important to you?
I love being a Demon because I'm surrounded by amazing teammates and coaches. It's such a positive team. They believe in me even when I don't. They constantly encourage and challenge me to be better.
What's one thing you wish everyone understood about this sport?
The time, sweat, tears of frustration and skill level involved. This isn't a casual hobby, it's a sport.
What's on your bout day/practice playlist?
"Radioactive", Imagine Dragons
Who's your derby idol and why?
Too many to list
Hobbies outside of roller derby?
There's time for things other than derby? When that happens, I love anything to do with history and taking ghost tours with my son.
