I had a friend in 2011 share on Facebook about a the league forming, and I haven't looked back since.
How much of your time would you say you dedicate to roller derby (or roller derby related activities) in an average week?
Probably around 8 hours.
What kind of athletic experience did you have before getting involved with roller derby?
Not much. Thankfully being a non-skating official, I can still help without much experience.
What's the most meaningful lesson you've learned from roller derby?
To keep pushing myself to be better than I was yesterday. There is always something new to learn.
What advice would you give to a new skater?
Keep going! It's hard to see improvements in yourself, but as someone from the outside, I see you improve everyday!! Don't compare yourself to another skater because you're going to understand something at different times.
Why is being a Middle Georgia Derby Demon important to you?
It's my family! I have found some of the most amazing and compassionate people through MGDD!
What's one thing you wish everyone understood about this sport?
How welcoming we are! Whatever background you have, we want you!
What's on your bout day/practice playlist?
William Control, Diplo, and MIA have been my go to lately.
Who's your derby idol and why?
Morgue N Donor. I've seen her work D1 level games, and worked with her a few times. She always has something new for me to know.
Favorite post-bout/practice meal?
Hobbies outside of roller derby?
Anything with Fiber Art!!! Give me some yarn or fabric and I'm happy.
